Joining forces with Towns to Enhance Enforcement and Launch Undercover Sting Operations against Illegal Car Service Operators
The Long Island Limousine Association (LILA) had a productive meeting with the Suffolk County Supervisors Association, discussing matters involving public safety and pressing issues facing the passenger transportation industry on Long Island. The core focus of the discussion centered around the prevalence of unlicensed car, van, and limo operators in the community.
Important dialogue took place around the need for new and additional enforcement measures against unlicensed operators, the creation of a public database of licensed operators, and greater education of local law enforcement agencies and broader awareness amongst the public at airports, train stations and tourist destinations, to only hire licensed operators. LILA is looking to collaborate with local police departments and our Town governments to implement undercover sting operations that will help to remove illegal car service operators from putting passengers at risk on Long Island’s roadways.
“We had a very encouraging meeting, talking with our Town Supervisors and representatives about partnering with their local law enforcement departments to crack down on illegal car service operators,” said LILA President Tom Gouldsbury, of Azure Limousine & Transportation. “

We look forward to having our elected officials join us in our public awareness campaign efforts to hire only licensed drivers and are excited to work together to make sure passengers can be transported safely to their destination.”
