About Us

Mission

“To offer all legal limousine and ground transportation company owners the tools, and information they need to run their business in a way that will benefit them, their peers, and the general public.”

WHO WE ARE?

Long Island Limos Association logoIn the spring of 1976, a small group of six limousine owners started meeting for fellowship and the never ending “insurance problem”.

The Long Island Limousine Association (LILA) was incorporated in 1978 with a charter group of twenty-four owners. A very lofty goal was set right from the first by-law to… “provide a media for owners of limousines to unite for a common cause and promote good will and understanding amongst all”.

The industry was still in its infancy then, and as it grew so did its problems. The more the business grew, the more the problems that followed, the more the members that joined looking for good answers, and a place to learn industry “Best Practices”.

Today LILA is the largest Bi-county Limousine association in the United States, serving the public and the limousine industry. We are the fastest growing too! LILA represents over 70 companies (from one car to multi car operations), over 1000 vehicles (including sedans, stretches, SUV’s and large 50 passenger buses). Our membership employs over 1000 people, including chauffeurs, dispatchers, mechanics, receptionist and sales people.

We help solve problems through our co-operative efforts which create and promote a better relationship and understanding between legal owner / operators, all the government agencies, and the public at large. By promoting compliance with federal, state, and local laws, limousine maintenance standards, and chauffeur training and safety procedures, we improve the limousine industry, and increase the public awareness of the many benefits found in using a member company.

LILA is committed to promoting the long-term health and growth of the chauffeured transportation industry by providing educational programs, public awareness campaigns, and grass-roots government affairs initiatives in partnership with operators, suppliers, and affiliates of the limousine industry. Our focus is not only to provide political support for our industry, but to expand the limousine market in the Long Island and New York Metro area, by supporting community events and transportation industry-related organizations, and providing exposure for our members.

The Long Island Limousine Association is continually involved with the surrounding community such as School Districts, Toys for Tots, M.A.D.D., and Make a Wish Foundation to name a few.

All members displaying the LILA logo are letting people and companies know they are a reputable professional in the limousine industry following “Best Practice” standards.
