LILA Safety Campaign Kicked Off in Early 2025, Highlighting the Importance of Professional Transportation for Personal Protection

Saint James, New York – The Long Island Limousine Association (LILA) has launched the next phase of its’ public awareness campaign that was kicked off in the beginning of 2025. This new phase includes a public service announcement video, emphasizing the importance and pleading with residents to hire only licensed car, van and limo operators for their transportation needs.

The campaign’s central message is direct and urgent: “Don’t risk the safety of your loved ones—hire only licensed, professional transportation providers.”

Licensed operators undergo thorough background checks, have their driving records reviewed, and carry proper livery insurance coverage—critical protections that unlicensed operators often lack. The rise of unlicensed drivers, particularly those advertising services via social media, has become a growing concern across Long Island. These operators operate without insurance or oversight, leaving passengers vulnerable with no recourse in the event of an accident.

LILA is collaborating with local community leaders and elected officials to increase enforcement efforts and expand public education about the risks of unlicensed transportation, aiming to reduce the presence of illegal car services on Long Island’s roads.

Residents are encouraged to report unlicensed vehicle operators by calling the tip line at 631-944-8448 or emailing ContactLILALongIsland@gmail.com.

“When you choose a licensed transportation provider, you’re choosing peace of mind,” said Tom Gouldsbury, President of LILA and owner of Azure Limousine & Transportation. “This video reminds residents to hire only licensed operators. Trusting a qualified chauffeur that is properly insured and professionally trained could save a life.”

“You wouldn’t put your family in your own vehicle without insurance,” added Charles Gandolfo, Vice President of LILA and owner of Dynasty Limousine. “The same logic should apply when hiring a car service—ensure they’re insured and legally licensed so you can and your family can be protected.”

Jim Powers, Second Vice President of LILA and owner of All Star Limousine, also emphasized the message: “Hiring a professional is the safest choice. It’s their job to make sure you and your loved ones get to your destination safely and responsibly.”
